chimney capping

Client in Bentleigh East contacted us regarding chimney capping.

Our plumber arrived to site on the 23/2/23. He spoke to the client and told him about a roof leak near the gas heater that has soaked the carpet. He spoke with the client about if they were seeing a water run down the bricks or if the water appeared at the bottom of the heater. The client told him that the water appeared from the bottom. This indicates that the water is entering the chimney space. Our plumber gained access to the roof to assesses the top of the chimney. The top of the chimney has a flue plate on it that pools water with a low spot that has a gap under it that run in to the chimney cavity. He recommended capping the chimney and reinstating the flue to the capping.

• Supply custom capping in zincalume
• Supply all fixings and sealants
• Order materials and have delivered or pick up from supplier
• Gain access to the roof
• Remove flue from the chimney and place aside to reinstate later
• Remove excess mortar to gain a flat surface on the top of the chimney
• Custom fabricate capping to suit chimney
• Install chimney flashing fixing it to the chimney
• Reinstate flue to the capping
• Pack up tools and clean up
• Lodge a compliance certificate with the VBA.
